This small scale Roncesvalles garden was designed as a series of simple
rooms. The site, a long and linear Toronto lot, was subdivided into
three distinct areas responding to use, desired privacy, and sun exposure.
The contemporary design with a minimal material palette, clean lines,
and details allows the small garden to function on multiple levels.
Areas closest to the house use pea gravel and lawn to create multi-use
outdoor spaces, while areas further from the house use vegetation to
provide shade, privacy, and wildlife habitat. Many of the garden's materials
were recycled from the site, or were donated by family and neighbours.
