M O C A P E
The MOCAPE landscape responds to its immediate bustling streets and civic buildings, as well as the greater contextual landscape of the mountains, river agriculture, delta, and sea. The linear stone paved streetscape surrounding the building promotes the flow of pedestrians and permeation of rainwater, and widens to accommodate gravel or moss with places to sit. Linear clusters of bamboo play with the vertical lines on the building, and are harvested as construction material or used in the cafeteria’s meals. Courtyards are intended to provide lush green spaces, allowing an escape from the city and its humidity. A central courtyard bowl with permeable paving collects site water and cycles it into the sustainable landscape system. Reflecting on the building, the water brings light to this space and provides a cooling effect, where visitors can relax after enjoying their visit to the museum.
