Inspired by the joy of spring, the Lucent Forest is composed of over
three hundred branches ready to burst into leaf. Held within clear acrylic
tubes, and organized in a grid to produce the effect of a constructed
forest, the branches are highlighted as specimens to examine individually,
or admire in their vertical composition. Buds and budding leaves appear
magnified within their encasements, such that the unique qualities of
each species can be enjoyed. Moving around the space, the tubes create
walls, enclosures and strategic openings to view through to the distance
and imagine what mysteries this forest might hold. This project was
installed at the 2007 Toronto Interior
Design Show as part of the Offspring
Exhibition.
