Flushing Meadow Park, at 1500 acres, is one of the largest park areas
in New York City, almost twice the size of Central Park. The park is
located in the predominantly residential borough of Queens, the largest
borough in the city, with a growing population of almost two million.
The borough is distinguished as being the most ethnically diverse in
the United States. This master plan proposal focuses on envisioning
a new metropolitan-scale park, sited within the context of an existing
aggregation of contiguous park and open-space parcels. The plan explores
the relationship of site infrastructure, program idea, and design form
as generators of new park space.
