Buzzards Bay open design competition was seeking solutions to their community in decline. This strategy aims to use an existing daffodil festival to rejuvenate interest in the community and spur redevelopment. The park's design connects the community to the water, by celebrating its underlying qualities. Clarifying edges and territories defines the park's identity. A wide promenade walk connects Main Street to the Cape Cod Canal. Secondary lines of circulation link site elements, including the marsh, wet meadow, forest, field, paved multiuse surfaces, a gently sloped lawn planted with daffodils, a waterfront terrace for viewing and performances, and a crushed shell beach for play and relaxation. Each new year and season provides a reason to celebrate by the sea.
